About me:
I was born and raised in a very small town. My graduating class consisted of twelve people total. I have been conditioned to live in a simulated, collectivistic environment. Fleeing from this, I adapted an individualistic personality and dreamed of living in the big city. I now attend a university that is less than an hour away from The Windy City. I love it; however, I have not rejected my roots. They are, quite obviously, what made me who I am. The church I attended for ten years helped me build my passion for photography. I started at twelve years old with a two-megapixel digital camera. I took photos for my youth-group's website (an entity that I also created). Since then, I have worked for professionals, corporations and private individuals alike. I started my own business at the age of nineteen and intend to see it flourish. Only by the grace of God will my goals see any form of success. I am currently the executive photographer for my university’s yearbook. I also do marketing (graphic design and photography alike) work for the radio station and campus as a whole.
About this blog:
I created this [blog] with the intention of promoting my business. I also wanted to give my life that much more purpose. I want my photos to be as abundant, magnificent and entertaining as the fireflies in the sky. The name of this blog does not solely take root in this concept alone. It also comes from a line in one of my favorite songs:
“Like a giant jar full of fireflies, the yellow light’s blinking on the mountainside!” The Best in Me by Sherwood
I hope you can enjoy this project. After the year is over, I will still update periodically with specific photo series. They are already in the works.
Thank you,
Brent Tyler Brooks
